Mario Aguilar

PhD Student, Mexican American Studies

Mario is a doctoral student in the Mexican American Studies program at University of Arizona. He was born in La Manzanilla de la Paz, a rural town in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, and migrated to Grandview, Washington. His experiences as a migrant and seasonal farmworker in Washington have guided his research on structural violence and health disparities in the farm-working community. His doctoral focus will be on public health and wellness, (Im)migration Studies, and Critical Education centering on the Latinx community. Most recently, joining Pima Community College as an adjunct faculty teaching a dual enrollment course where High School students can enroll in MAS 165 Mexican American Culture, Community, and Identity.
